What is Point Sublime?
Point Sublime is a must-see lookout in the Gorges du Tarn, 870 m above sea level. Perched on the Causse de Sauveterre, it offers breathtaking views of the steep cliffs and emerald waters of the Tarn. The site allows you to admire a right-angle bend in the Tarn, with unobstructed views over several kilometers, from the Détroits to the Pas de Soucy.
Point Sublime is also a popular spot for hiking and vulture-watching. It is accessible all year round, with facilities to welcome visitors in good conditions.
On-site, the Maison du Tourisme offers local products, souvenirs and a snack bar.
For nature lovers, hikers and photographers, Point Sublime is a must for exploring the Gorges du Tarn!
How do I get to Point Sublime?
There are several options for getting to Point Sublime, depending on your preferences. You can get there by car by following the D46 to Saint-Georges-de-Lévéjac, then take the road leading to the belvedere. Parking is available on site, and the site is accessible all year round.
If you prefer a moreadventurous hike, there are a number of trails to choose from, offering different views of the Gorges du Tarn.
Hiking from Saint-Georges-de-Lévéjac
You’ll pass through magnificent landscapes and caussenard villages before arriving at Point Sublime.

- Distance: 12.5 km
- Difference in altitude: +363 m / -360 m
- Description: This loop starts from Saint-Georges-de-Lévéjac. Start from the church square, following the GR6 (white and red markings).
- Difficulty: Easy to moderate.
Hike from the Prieuré de Saint-Jean des Balmes
This hike starts from the Prieuré de Saint-Jean des Balmes. Follow the marked paths to reach the Point Sublime. You’ll take in breathtaking views of the gorges and cornices of the Méjean.
- Duration: Approx. 2h30
- Distance: 10 km
- Difference in altitude: +320 m / -320 m
- Difficulty: Medium, with a few steeper sections.
These hikes offer a complete immersion in the beauty of the Gorges du Tarn, with viewpoints to discover at every stage.

On site: the tourist office
The Maison du Tourisme et de Pays du Point Sublime is located in Saint-Georges-de-Lévéjac, near the Point Sublime.
It will provide you with tourist information on the Gorges du Tarn and the surrounding area. There’s also a store selling local products and souvenirs.
To make your visit as perfect as possible, the Tourist Office team is on hand to give you advice on what to do, where to go and what ‘s on.
Open from Easter to All Saints’ Day, it’s a great starting point for organizing your stay and discovering the region!

Our tip: If you have the time, don’t hesitate to visit the Baumes Chaudes cave, just below Point Sublime. This historic site, where prehistoric skulls have been found, plunges you into the ancient history of the region and adds a fascinating dimension to your exploration of the Gorges du Tarn!

The best seasons to visit Point Sublime are spring andautumn.
In spring, you’ll enjoy pleasant temperatures and green landscapes, perfect for hiking.
Autumn is also an excellent time of year, with its warm colors making the site even more charming.
Summer attracts more visitors, making the site more crowded. So it’s best to visit in the shoulder months to avoid the crowds.
