Belcastel
Belcastel is one of Aveyron’ s most impressive villages. Its 11th-century medieval château, restored by architect Fernand Pouillon, dominates the village.
Today, it’s a must-see historic monument and art gallery in one. Don’t miss the Musée de la Forge et des Anciens Métiers, ideal for families.
The village is also famous for its night markets, where you can sample local specialities such as Aveyron cheeses: Roquefort, Bleu and Cabécou, to name but a few!

Estaing
Estaing lies at the heart of the Lot valley, surrounded by hillsides and crossed by a distinctive Gothic bridge. This Aveyron village, listed as one of France’s Most Beautiful Villages, is dominated by its 13th-century château, the historic residence of the Estaing family.
Don’t miss the Maison de la Vigne, du Vin et des Paysages d’Estaing, where you can learn more about one of France’s smallest vineyards and taste Aveyron wines!
Our advice If you’re in the area in early September, take part in the Médiévales d’EstaingA lively event where the village dresses up in its 13th-century garb, with a medieval market, banquets and costumed entertainment. An excellent way to immerse yourself in the local history of this Aveyron village !

La Couvertoirade
La Couvertoirade, a fortified medieval village in Aveyron, is a veritable immersion inTemplar and hospitable history. Perched on the causse du Larzac, it boasts a 13th-century Templar castle, medieval ramparts and cute little streets. Don’t miss the windmill that dominates the landscape and the museum of ancient trades. Last but not least, La Couvertoirade is also a lively place, where locals and craftsmen share their passion and know-how.
Our advice Take advantage of free activities proposed throughout the year: wooden games, archery, demonstrations of old trades… The perfect way to keep young and old busy while learning about local history!

Peyre
Peyre, also classified as one of France’s Most Beautiful Villages, is a very special village in Aveyron. Built on a colossal rock face, it offers a breathtaking view of the Millau Viaduct.
Its troglodytic houses and 17th-century fortified Romanesque church create a special atmosphere, reminiscent of Mediterranean villages. Take a stroll through this Aveyron village and you’ll discover a blend of ancient and modern, where history and nature meet.
Our tip To get the most out of the region, take a canoe trip. canoe or on the Tarn. You’ll have a breathtaking view of Peyre and the Millau Viaduct !

Saint-Côme-d’Olt
Saint-Côme-d’Olt is a quintessentially medieval Aveyron village in the heart of the Lot valley. Its ramparts and three fortified gates invite you to step back in time! You’ll find historic monuments such as the manor house of the Sires de Calmont and the Château de Castelnau. What’s more, thechurch of Saint-Côme-d’Olt, with its rare flamed bell tower, is another highlight, with its carved oak doors and forged nails dating back to 1532!

Sainte-Eulalie-d’Olt
Sainte-Eulalie-d’Olt, also classified as one of France’s most beautiful villages (yet another!), is a charming Aveyron village on the banks of the River Lot.
Its 11th-century church and 15th-century château make it a not-to-be-missed place to visit. The village is also a center for the arts, with numerous galleries and studios for local artists.
Don’t miss the Sainte-Épine procession in July, when locals and visitors gather for a traditional pageant.
